Jimmie Dale Williams passed away at his home in Pima at the age of 68. He was born in Afoka County, Okla., to Steve Ernest and Carrie Ola Williams on Sept. 18, 1941.
Jimmie moved to Pima when he was 7 years old. He went to school in Pima but got his GED in Phoenix in 1967. He worked on farms in the Gila Valley as a young boy. He worked for the Arizona Highway Department with two of his brothers when he was 20 years old.
Jimmie liked going to the casino, AA meetings, playing dominos and eating at Burger King.
A graveside service for Jimmie was held Friday, Oct. 23, at the Pima Cemetery.
He is survived by his brother, Calvin Williams of Wash.; Wanda Manns of Ore.; and several nieces and nephews. Local survivors are his sister, Marcella (Roland) Barnes; sister-in-law Joann Emerson; niece Debra Hallett of Pima; Kay (Fred) Clifford and Marsha Emerson of Tucson; nephews Ricky and Mike Emerson of Safford; Quentin (Debbi) Barnes and Clayton (Dianne) Barnes of Safford.
Thanks to everyone for all the rides. Jimmie could drive but liked to walk and see people. He got rides pretty fast. It seems everyone knew him; natives from the reservation, LDS members and AA members. All made sure he got where he was going. Thanks. He will be missed.
