Larry Talley

Larry K. Talley, 77, of Thatcher passed away Oct. 30, 2009, at Mt. Graham Medical Center in Safford. He was born in Thatcher on April 20, 1932, to Corbett and Genevieve (Motes) Talley. He graduated from Safford High School with the class of 1951.

Larry worked with his father doing construction, building many of the homes in the Valley. After his dad got sick and could no longer work, Larry got his own contractor's license and worked hard in this field for many years. He was known for his workmanship and honesty. He fought a battle with type 1 diabetes for 68 years.

Larry married Barbara (Larson) Talley (deceased) in 1953, and they had three children. They resided in Safford for 25 years. Later, he married Iris (Hicks) Talley in 1987, and they shared 22 years of life together.

He is survived by his wife, Iris of Thatcher; his sister, Erma White of Safford; three children, Deneice Welker (Dallas, deceased) of Gilbert; Jenny Pierson of Peoria and Michael of Phoenix; two stepdaughters, Virginia Hall of Spokane, Wash., and Tammy Moran of Leander, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The services will be held at Safford Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 5. Viewing is at 12 noon, and funeral services are at 1 p.m.
